Covid-19 and Dental Care

As the world changes its behavior in regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential that we remember our overall health --- and that includes our oral health!

Key Updates:

1)  Stay at home and follow the rules!  It is essential that this virus is contained and that its spread is limited!  We all need to do our part and need listen to healthcare and government officials.  Avoid large crowds, maintain social distance and adhere to proper hygiene (wash hands frequently and DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE).

2) At the moment, all elective dental care is prohibited in the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  That means no routine check-ups, cleanings, etc...  This means we all need to do our best at continuing and IMPROVING our dental home care.  Brush three times a day and please floss before bed!!!

But UNFORTUNATELY

The rate of dental cavities and dental emergencies will inevitably increase due to:

a) The lack of routine dental care
b) An increase in consumption of processed foods (packed with sugar).

That's all the more reason to keep brushing three times  a day and floss!

3)  Shops might be out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, but there's no shortage of toothpaste, floss and toothbrushes!

4)   Take advantage of all this extra time with kids.  Review brushing and flossing with the little ones!  This is an excellent time to reinforce proper brushing and flossing.  If you need help, youtube is packed with videos to help your kids floss and brush!

In closing, stay healthy, calm and remember to brush your teeth!

And remember if you do find yourself with a dental emergency, dentists are open to treat emergencies even through the pandemic.

A day at the museum

Every time I go out, I've got teeth on my mind.  A trip to the museum is no different.  I spotted this at the Penn Museum:
Picture

Its the skull and helmet of a young man as he was excavated from his tomb, flattened by the earth above.  The skull is over 4,500 years old and was found in the ancient city of Ur in Mesopotamia.  If anyone out there is reading this --- do you notice anything peculiar about his teeth?  Anything stand out to you?  Let me know in the comments section below...

The Secret to a Happy Dental Visit

We're wrapping up another busy night here at Day and Night Dental. While we're shutting down for the night, me and the staff have been recapping this week day by day.  What we all can agree on is that its such a pleasure meeting so many new and interesting patients every night.  Thanks to you all.

It's my personal goal to make this dental office a second home for my staff and patients.  When you let a guest into your home, what do you normally do?  Offer a glass of water, something to eat ... ask them how they've been?

That's the philosophy of Day and Night Dental.  My office is your home; stop by anytime if you need anything.  You will always be treated as family.

Have a great night,
RN

Thank you for finding my blog.  It's nice being heard...or read!

I just wrapped a fun case a few minutes ago...at around 11:00 PM. Yes, that's right, treatment here at Day and Night Dental doesn't stop when the sun goes down.  I believe a patient should be seen at any time.  If you have a toothache in the evening --- how else are you supposed to get through the night?

In any case, here's a quick pop quiz...dental related of course.

Can you identify the picture below?  Is this something to worry about?

An eruption cyst on a pediatric patient.

...

The picture about is an Eruption Cyst and is completely normal! These normally appear with children who are just losing their baby teeth and getting their adult teeth.  Generally they go away on their own. So if you see one of these on your little one, don't panic!

Wishing you all a good night.
